Pärnu as a Hanseatic city, a resort town and the birthplace of the Republic of Estonia boasts many sights, museums, cafes and a beach promenade. As such, it is a memorable place to visit. Pärnu is not just a summer capital – there is plenty to do all year round for both adults and children.

What can you do in Pärnu? Pärnu Hotel has an ideal location right in the city centre, which means you can take in the sights with one short walk. Near the hotel is Rüütli Street, and next to that is Rüütli Square, the former location of the first train station in Pärnu.

Pärnu city centre also boasts the beautiful Eliisabet’s Church, which is one of the most remarkable Baroque-period sacral buildings in Estonia. What is more, you can find one of the best organs in Estonia inside the church. In Pärnu there is also the Church of Jekaterina, which is one of the most true-to-style and richest Baroque churches in Estonia. Walk a little further and you will find the Tallinn Gate, the only surviving 17th-century gate with an embankment in the Baltics, and the Red Tower, the only surviving defensive tower of the Hanseatic city of New-Pärnu. It was also used as a prison tower. You can walk on to the various parks of Pärnu or the Jaanson health trail, which runs parallel to Pärnu River.

Pärnu as an Estonia summer capital is known for many events and festivals. The following take place every year: the Good Food Festival Grillfest, Pärnu Hanseatic DaysPärnu Film Festival, Pärnu Music Festival Järvi Academy and much more. Summer in Pärnu is full of art, music and festivals.

There is no end to the culture you can enjoy on your holiday, as Pärnu also allows you to visit the multifaceted Endla Theatre and the Pärnu Concert Hall.

The city’s biggest shopping centres Port Artur and Pärnu Keskus are located right next to Pärnu Hotel, and the largest and newest cinema in town, Apollo Cinema, is also housed in the latter. The various nightclubs of the town have also partnered up with Pärnu Hotel.
